The magic of family
I am a massive kid when it comes to Christmas, and I have my amazing family to thank for it 🙂
Now I normally don’t like sharing too much of my personal life online (as all my friends will readily moan about if you ask), as I like to keep it private and intimate between my family and friends, but I figured I would make an exception this year! It’s been one hell of an amazing year!
So first let me introduce my immediate family:
Now my mum is the biggest kid of all at Christmas – she gets more excited than all of us, and at 5 foot nothing, we are pretty sure she is one of Santa’s elves!
But it’s her spirit, cheer, enthusiasm and love for the holiday that has kept us all young at heart at Christmas – thank you Mum! For example, we grew up with 7 Christmas trees dotted around the house (trust me, we would have had more if there’d been room!), we put out mince pies and a dram of single malt whisky the older the better (we are told it’s his favourite), and Dad always reads The Night Before Christmas at about 7pm on Christmas Eve before we all head off to bed and wait for Santa to arrive because we are that excitable!
It really is a magical time in the Short family household – Christmas music and movies, twinkling lights, lots of soddy holes (as my Nan used to call them), plenty of egg nog, lots of delicious homemade food, and most importantly of all, all of us together in one place for a spell.
I wouldn’t trade it for anything, I look forward to it every year, and I can’t tell you how thankful and how lucky I am to have such an amazing family – they are the reason I love Christmas!
So Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that you all have a fabulous holiday, whether you celebrate the festivities or not, and the best of wishes to all of you!
